CHRIS CLAY

Chris is a veteran in the music education scene. He taught saxophone, clarinet, and flute full-time for decades in Auckland high schools including Westlake Boys, St. Peter’s College, and St. Mary’s College.

Chris’s extensive experience in teaching and performance is a boon to his students. Not only is he well-versed with a variety of musical genres from classical to jazz, he is experienced in teaching in all kinds of situations from one-on-one lessons to group classes, and also in grooming students for solo performances as well as performances in concert bands and combos of all sizes.

Chris is now retired from full-time work but still enjoys teaching  part-time. He welcomes students of any age between eight and eighty years. His motto is “you’re never too old to learn,” and he endeavours to put this into practice in his own life and music. He is living proof that music brings life and keeps people young!

Note: Chris allocates only limited hours to teaching. Students are screened before acceptance. Please contact us if you’re interested in the opportunity to be on board.
